David Jones is a graduate of Economy School Of Harvard, an ex-member of United States Economy Institute in Maryland, a current member of United States Business Club, as well as the author of many publications about earning methods and a cryptocurrency specialist. One of our redactors managed to talk him into giving an interview.

Hello, professor, and thank you for coming.

Oh, you’re welcome. But I hope it won’t take too long, my schedule is packed.

Absolutely. As a start, would you mind telling us, how do you manage to stay on top of the economics world?

I’m afraid the answer will disappoint you. I just read a lot, which is both the easiest and the hardest thing to do. I learned to constantly verify and update my knowledge, and thanks to that I’m up to date on all the novelties, researches, analyses, and new theories.

So you don’t have any “ready-made” formula or a “big secret”?

I said you’d be disappointed. But if I had to point out one thing that made the aforementioned easier for me, I’d say courses. I make and co-author a lot of them, and that makes me reach for new sources to make sure the knowledge I’m serving people isn’t out of date. It’s a great motivation.

You mentioned courses. Save for those you prepare yourself, what is your general opinion on them, professor?

The idea of sharing knowledge is very important I think, but, as with all things, it has its pros and cons. Of course, it’s very noble if someone does it for free, but time and experise come at a price. Now, I’m not saying that free courses are useless, but sometimes it’s worth to invest a few dollars and gain access to bette quality materials and informations.

From what I gathered, your main area of interest is investing. What, in your opinion, makes it so fascinating?

Oh, there’s a lot. It’s full of correlations, tidbits, or almost a commentary on current society. But what actually made me delve deeper into the topic was - just don’t laugh at me, now - moneymaking, and people’s creativity that it unleashes. How much rhetorics, scams, potential, and pure genius unfolds in people as soon as they see profit, and what confusing or unprecedented things they can bet their money on in order to multiply them.

Like cryptocurrencies?

Excellent example! Personally I’m a great fan of this concept and the whole technology. I’ve been following the development of many cryptocurrencies for years, holding my breath, yet I still feel like I barely know anything about them. And what about an average Joe, who only knows about cryptocurrencies from the Bitcoin crash! And yet people invest in them, and I’m not just talking about big companies, that experiment with faster accounting systems or resource tracking. Regular people, not involved in dealing on the market, like you or your neighbor, are starting to invest in e-currency. Amazing!

Don’t you think they’re exposing themselves to unnecessary risk? After all, cryptomarket is still mostly uncharted territory.

No way! And even if someone slips up, so to speak, then they might learn something and gain experience, or even decide to do a course or uncover the secrets of this “uncharted territory”, as you called it, on their own. And that’s good! As for someone who might get discouraged after one loss… well, the market is rather a place for the determined! The cryptocurrencies might be quite a young concept, but in a sense they’re not any different for other assets or investments. And the faster they go mainstream, the better.

You really seem to be very enthusiastic about cryptocurrencies, professor Jones.

I cannot lie, they fascinate me. Their innovation, universality, applying decentralisation in that sense… Just a few years back my colleagues called me a freak when I talked about it. Now it’s my turn to laugh at them. Cryptocurrenies are the future, undoubtedly.

You’re impressively knowledgable, professor. Would you like to tell us in short, how did you get so far in life?

Oh, that’s a really good story, you’ll like it. So, my father, as you probably know, was a teacher in economy high school. A great man, a true teacher with a mission, and a loving father. The way he talked about his job, explained complicated issues so clearly and with such passion, that even as a kid I could understand them. He lived this job, I swear.

Ever since I was a child, I admired him greatly and, of course, I wanted to be just like papa when I grow up. Fortunately, I was always especially gifted in maths, and my father supported me greatly throughout my education. Unfortunately, he died when I was in high school. Despite that, or maybe because of it, I decided to keep uncovering the secrets of economy, to pay my respects to this amazing man. Thanks to the knowledge and fascination that my father instilled in me, it was simply pleasant. Of course, it didn’t save me from hard work, sleepless nights, and weekends spent with the books, but I was not deterred. I surrounded myself with everything that had to do with it and before I knew, all that knowledge and respect of my colleagues that I earned over the years brought me all the way to the top. After all these years I gotta say, I don’t regret a thing. I managed to fulfill my childhood dream and much, much more.

Thank you for this story. Last question: do you have any universal advice about investing?

Don’t be afraid to take risks, but take them carefully. Learn, observe, and draw conclusions, and most of all - do not fear making mistakes. Failures are the most valuable lessons and trials of character, which can bring us a lot of good if we make use of them. ....
